Trip Organized by Aksheswar Traditional Buddhist Art College

Getting to know my own city better.

The restoration and conservation work at Guitole – Guitah (meaning 9 storeys) is progressing beautifully. Today the restored work of Bilah Pau was unveiled. The 30 feet long canvas was meticulously made taking reference from many books and the older Bilah Pau.

The evidence found points to the thriving society and settlements that date back to 542 AD. The vihar/temple itself was restored in the 12th century.

Every year (on Kwati Punhi – full moon day – today), devotees come to pay their respects to Dhalya Hiti, an auspicious water spout in Newari culture.

Need to do more of such wallks. Thanks to Aksheswar Traditional Buddhist Art College for organizing the trip and Gyanendra Shakya for his insightful presentation.
